SUMMER BBQ

A blistering hot Summers afternoon…. What better way to spend it than romping around Regents Park, which is exactly what we did.

The Hub offered a spectacular BBQed spread and enough alcohol to water us down for at least a few hours (reinforcements were called in later in the day to stock up the depleted supply).

We even had some visitors this year from Vital Statistics and TPoll (although, to be fair, they are truly part of the big SPA family). It was noted, however, that their alcohol intake was rather disappointing given past achievements – the Lazell camp was somewhat non-eventful this time round – a shame really.

There was volleyball-a-go-go. Stewart’s unfair advantage of at least 6 inches above the other players helped not in the slightest as she forgot that ‘one bounce is allowed’ – who can blame her really considering the rules changed constantly to accommodate the not-so-gifted 1st Floor contingent! Typical quallies – talk themselves out of every situation leaving the other people convinced that they’ve got the best end of the deal.

And, naturally, some energetic sorts strutted their football stuff – apparently showing England how it should have been done. It seems the star performance was given by Butterworth the Younger (all of 2 years old) as he smashed the ball almost into the monkey cage at London Zoo (the very same monkey cage that was mistaken for an anthill by a certain person who shall remain nameless to minimise humiliation!)

The rest of us exercised our beer lifting arms and managed to break some serious records on the consumption front. There were definitely no straight lines weaved through the park on the head home, but hey! What a day! We all enjoyed ourselves and got an afternoon in the wonderful sun, which has already left us for finer climes.
